Motor Milestone Recap
It’s been a while since I’ve done an educational piece on motor milestones! In fact, last time I did this, the CDC had completely different information on their website. Yes- the remember the drama when the CDC has changed their guidelines? They pushed back pretty much everything, & took away a bunch of motor skills. Not a big fan, but here we are.
My issues with the CDC list: nothing about symmetry, no standing, no crawling, no transitioning, no rolling prone to supine.
AS a PT, here’s my general advice: If you are seeing your baby favoring one side, they don’t have a neck, having trouble with functional tasks (eating/ swallowing) or age appropriate skills- seek out help. You’re not alone!. If you feel like something isn’t right, you’re anxious, just call a professional. We went to school for many years and have loads of experience, we can help.
Wondering when should my baby be crawling?
Here it is. The CDC milestones on the Left. Denise’s Milestones on the Right.

**From 2.5 ON, there’s SO many skills. Many checklists and standardized tests on these skills. So ill keep it simple- if your kid is not able to keep up with peers in the playground/ playing sports/ physical stuff OR kiddo falls a lot- seek out a PT.
